I began playing drums at the age of 11 and quickly also became interested in music production. Whilst in school, I attained 'Grade 8 Drums and Percussion' at Honours level and went on to the School of Audio Engineering (SAE) in London, UK. After a year in SAE I received an Honours Diploma in Audio Engineering.
I was then offered an internship (under the brilliant Paul Ashe Browne) at the ‘Works Studio' in Dublin, Ireland and learned a great deal about the trade of production and engineering. During my internship, Irish rock legends U2 came in and worked on their album ‘Pop’ which was an invaluable learning experience.
At the same time I was in a funk band that played regularly around Dublin. We played many amazing gigs, including the Late Late Show and the Afternoon Show on RTE1.
During this time I decided to take my pursuit of musical excellence to a new level and applied to and was accepted into the prestigious Beklee College of Music in Boston, USA.
During my three years in Berklee I studied Music Performance and Synthesis. The knowledge and experience I gained from top musicians and teachers in the US has greatly benefited me musically and professionally.
After Berklee I decided to come back to Europe and quickly found myself back in the London music scene. During this period I was involved in many sessions, gigs, etc., but got my first real break when I was hired by U2 to be part of their two year Vertigo World Tour.
After completing the tour, I decided it was time to set-up shop back home, in Wicklow, Ireland and opened 'Fundamental Studios'.
In addition to my music production work I am playing drums for a handful of artists, including Marz Roche & Paul Hourican.
